What is SSC MTS?

 

SSC Multitasking Staff (SSC MTS ) exam is one the open competitive exam which is conducted by Staff Selection Commission in two main stages; Common Test and descriptive paper. After clearing these stages, the candidate will get selected for General Central Service Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial posts in various Central Government Ministries/Departments/Offices, in different States/Union Territories. It is mandatory for the candidate to qualify both these stages of examination in order to make it to the merit list prepared by SSC prepared at the end. The Posts for which SSC MTS is conducted are: Peon, Daftary, Jamadar, Junior Gestetner Operator, Chowkidar, Safaiwala, Mali etc.

Educational Qualifications:

 

The candidate must have passed the 10th class or equivalent from a Government recognized Board.

 

Age Limit:

 

There are two age groups:

 

  • Age Group 1: Minimum 18 years and maximum 25 years
  • Age Group 2: Minimum 18 years and maximum 27 years

SSC MTS Exam Pattern

 

The examination of SSC MTS is conducted in 3 different levels: Paer-1, Paper-2 (Descriptive Test) & Paper-3 (Skill Test). Paper-1 is an online exam which is objective multiple choice question type. Paper-2 is a pen and paper mode of examination which includes a descriptive paper in English or any other language listed in the government policies. Paper-III is a skill test that needs to be taken as per candidate’s convenience.

The Staff Selection Commission is making recruitment to the posts of Multi-Tasking Staff in Pay Band-1 (5200-20200/-) + Grade Pay 1800/-,(Revised Pay Scale after 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level – 01).

SSC MTS Selection Process

 

Staff Selection Commission conducts Multi-Tasking Staff Exam (MTS) every year in 3 different stages:

 

  • Paper 1 – Candidates will be shortlisted for the Paper-II on the basis of their performance in Paper-I.
  • Descriptive Test – Paper-II will only of qualifying nature. The cut-offs in Paper-I and qualifying marks in Paper-II may be different for vacancies in each State/ UT will be fixed at the discretion of the Commission.
  • Skill Test – Candidates for each State/UT will be finally selected based on their performance in Paper-I, subject to their meeting basic qualifying standards fixed in Paper-II.

 

Important Points to Remember

 

  • Paper-I will consist of Objective Type- Multiple choice questions only.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
  • Paper-II will be descriptive in which the candidate will be required to write short essay/letter in English or any language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution.
  • It is mandatory for the candidate to qualify both these stages of examination in order to make it to the merit list prepared by SSC prepared at the end.
